Kanha National Park is located in the heart of Central India and is among the most popular parks in India. Kanha is shared between 2 districts – Mandla and Balaghat. Jabalpur (3 1/2 hours), Raipur (5 hours) and Nagpur (5 hours) are the nearest airport to Kanha National Park. Nearest rail heads are Jabalpur (4 hours) and Gondia (3 hours). There are regular flight and train connections from all parts of the country to Kanha. Kanha has 2 main gates – Khatia and Mukki, most of the lodges are around these gates and time may differ as per the wildlife resort you are staying in.

Kanha is also well connected by road from Bandhavgarh National Park (5-6 hours) and Pench National Park (3-4 hours) and makes an excellent circuit with both these parks.

There are daily flights to Jabalpur, Nagpur and Raipur from all major cities in the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Recently Indigo airlines has also started flights to Gondia Airport from Hyderabad which is under 3 hours drive from Kanha Earth Lodge and Kanha National Park. It is suggested to book road transfer from the airport to the lodge in advance as on most occasions good vehicles are not available at the airport for long journeys.
There are options for booking a chartered flight also to Kanha. Small planes can land at Birwa Airstrip which is under an hour away from Kanha.

Kanha National Park is well connected by train from across the country. Jabalpur, Gondia, Nagpur, Raipur and Katni Junction are convenient railway stations.
When coming from Delhi to Kanha, NZM JBP SF (22182) and MP Sampark Kranti (12122) are the recommended trains to Jabalpur. Both trains have options for 1st AC and 2nd AC. There is also an option to come to Raipur and Gondia. Bilaspur Rajdhani from Delhi also has a stop at Gondia and is a good option.

When coming from Kolkata to Kanha, Shaktipunj EXP (11448) and Mumbai Mail (12321) are recommended trains to Jabalpur. Another option is to come to Katni which has several options but is a slightly longer drive to Kanha National Park.
When coming from Mumbai to Kanha there are many train options to Jabalpur, Raipur and Nagpur. Even Gondia junction is a great option as it is close to Kanha National Park especially via Vidharbha Express.

The road journey is comfortable from all major airports and stations.
When coming from Nagpur to Kanha it is a wonderful drive via NH 44 till Seoni and then via state highway. You will also cut across Pench National Park on this route and travel over India's finest elevated highway to ensure that the corridor between Pench and Kanha is not fragmented. There are several underpasses to let wildlife move around freely and not fragment the forest by highways. Suggested midway for a quick snack and washroom use are MSKS (closer to Nagpur) and Rukad Midway (closer to Seoni).

When coming from Jabalpur to Kanha it is a National Highway till Mandla and then a state highway till Kanha. You will also cross Narmada on this route. While in Jabalpur you have the option to visit Bedaghat and explore the waterfall and various ghats. MPT, Mandla is a good option for a washroom break and a quick snack on the highway to Kanha. While in Jabalpur one can try Indian Coffee House which has several branches and is legendary. It was started in 1958 by Indian coffee workers cooperative and has several branches.

When coming from Raipur to Kanha it is a state highway and Natraj restaurant near Gandai is a good place to break the journey for refreshments.
When coming from Bandhavgarh to Kanha National Park one will witness one of the most stunning landscapes dotted with quaint villages and forests. Fossil National Park is a good stop near Shahpura to explore and also to have a break. Fossil National Park doesn’t have a canteen so packed meals are suggested and there is a ticket to explore the museum and park. Another option is to stop at MPT, Mandla if needed.
